Worst insurance, dont buy
Service
We've been customer with AAA for almost 10 years & in these past 10 years probably we use the service for couple times. Our car broke down and we call roadside take them almost 2 1/2 hours to come.
When he came he said too far so he will not tow and left, we told him we will pay what the extra cost if after 5 miles but he still left. So we call AAA again & explain to them and told them what kind of car we had. We wait the other 2 hours & when they came it wrong truck so they can't tow and he said have to wait for different truck to come to tow. Now we have to wait the other 2 to 2 1/2 for new truck come to tow.
This is unacceptable you got all the information but still didn't give customer a good service & so terrible.
Now I'm thinking I should change to new company not only that couple my co-workers had the same bad experience. So pissed off wasting my whole dam day....just sit in the car for the 6 to 7 hours for dam tow truck AAA.

Not fixing my vehicle
Don’t buy any battery
Do not buy any battery from AAA. I bought one a year ago under warranty 3 years replacement guarantee. Just about 2 days ago my car didn’t start so I called AAA. Their technician check my battery and he said there is a problem with my battery and also alternator so I towed my car to my collision he check my car and he said the alternator is fine you need a new battery. I called the AAA again they sent another person he check my car again and he said I can’t change your battery before you change the alternator and he give me a pice if print out he said show this to next AAA guy they will change your battery after you done with alternator. Now we are in day 3 my collusion change my alternator and he test the old one and said that is still good however I change it for be able to get my $150 battery. Alternator replacement coast me $325 guess what they sent me a new technician and he said the battery is fine there is another issue I can’t change the battery. Mean while my car still doesn’t start I called the AAA they said because I change my alternator my warranty expired.
I said it is a big scam do not buy anything from AAA.

Extremely disappointed in hotel recommendation
We went to AAA in Smithtown ,NY to help us make arrangements for a hotel in London, England. The woman who assisted us suggested the Hilton London Green Park and a reservation was made. I have never had any trouble with recommendations previously made by AAA but our experience at this hotel was so horrible that I felt the need to write this review as I do not know why this hotel is being recommended . The reviews on sites such as Trip Advisor are terrible and I only wish I had read the reviews and found a different hotel, rather than trusting the recommendation of AAA.
The only positive comments I can make about this hotel are that it is in a good location and the concierge and individuals at the front desk were very pleasant.
The cons of this hotel are that (1) it is tired and old, (2) the walls are thin and you can hear music, etc from other rooms, (3) there was mold on the ceiling of the bathroom, (4) there were cracks in the sink and bathtub, (5) there were stains on the carpet, and (6) the air conditioner was ineffective. If you stood in front of the vent you could feel some air coming out but it was insufficient to cool down the room (and turning down the thermostat did nothing. In addition, on more than one day, there were fans in the lobby because the air conditioner was not working.
I noticed that on Trip Advisor the manager responded to similar comments from previous guests stating that the hotel is due for a makeover. This is great news if you happen to stay in the hotel after the renovations occur (assuming they do) but it does you no good if you stay there before the renovations take place.
I do not know what information AAA bases their recommendation on, but this recommendation was one I wish had never been made.
Only gives you 5 miles and horrible roadside assistance
I had AAA for 4 years and I always thought it was worth the cost when i signed up I assumed i would only need to pay for the membership fee but a few weeks ago my 2007 ford f150 scab pickup truck broke down in the middle of nowhere in Nevada I called AAA and a nice person contacted a tow truck so the tow truck came to pickup my ford f150 scab pickup truck and brought it to the nearest repair shop witch was about 25 miles away I was suprised to receive a bill in the mail charging me 4 dollars a MILE equaling about 110 dollar including taxes as well as fees. I called AAA and found out they only tow 5 free miles unless you have the plus or premier memberships and charge you after the 5 miles but they claim that other tow companies charge 6 or 8 dollars a MILE that is a lie because before i had AAA i used a tow company that only charges 2 dollars a mile and does not require a membership fee or have horrible customer service like AAA does. I have since cancelled my AAA membership and will never use AAA again.

Never trust AAA
My car had a transmission problem. After calling around SF to find someone who could transmission, I called triple AAA to have them tow to the place. Triple AAA then offered to tow to a place that was AAA approved as I would receive a discount, I asked them if they do transmission and they said yes, i was thinking wow this is great, I didn't have to waste all my time calling around.
However, after getting my car towed there, the person said they didn't do transmission, I told them that AAA said they did, he then said "OK bring me a transmission and I will fix it"...how the *** am i supposed to bring him a transmission?? I don't know much about cars at all in general. I then went to pick up my car to tansfer it to another place...he wanted to charge me 1300$ for "other problems" he found....i said no i want to take my car and get the transmission fixed...he then charged me 100$ for a storage fee just so I could take my car somewhere else.
The other place said that i needed an oil change, tune, transmission fluid, and a new tire. They charge me 450$ and I was done. Car works like new now.
I had to waste two tows and spend 100$ for a triple AAA mistake. I called AAA, they did not reimburse the tows or the 100$, and pretty much said "I know its our fault but we cant do anything about it"
I have been a member for 10 years in so cal and 1 year in nor cal.
I will never use AAA again. And am going to attempt to dispute all charges through AMEX.

You know the rules before you enter the building so I reject that part of your argument. However, it reads as if your state is truly backwards in the way the renew plates/tags.
Even miserable, greedy, sociopathic Ohio has a mail in system for vehicles registered the year before ; quick and easy.
(and Ohio gets money to play with before you get your 2-cent sticker). Your system is poor for everyone, not just elderly or handicapped ; everyone suffers under a poor system.
