12/30---car would not start---AAA made visit, ran tests and determined I needed a new battery

1/5 (6 days later)------car would not start--AAA made visit, tests concluded that battery had severely discharged. AAA would not load test battery to assess whether the battery was bad and could offer nothing more than to tow the car to a mechanic.

1/7 took car to independent mechanic who charged battery---identified the AAA battery to be not adequate. Called AAA to pick up battery-----they refused as mechanic had already put a new battery in

I paid independent mechanic for cost of new battery and service costs to test old battery. Asked mechanic to leave battery in case AAA wanted to test. Call around to any car battery store---they are warranty batteries that have been severaly discharged----not AAA

1/18 Filed complaint with AAA----was told there was nothing that could be done----escalated up to next level

1/24 Spoke with fleet supervisor who advised he would pick up battery from mechanic and test it

1/26 Fleet supervisor called to advise that battery tested fine----no relief of any kind was provided---no credit on battery, no credit on keeping me as a customer.

1/26 Called membership to cancel and receive partial payment for the annual fee provided for which I had now used for less than a month---told I could not get any refund and membership would continue until end of year

1/26 Considering escalating up the food chain but have reservations as I have found this company to be severaly lacking in providing customer satisfaction---little empowerment and lots of layers

Makes a person think or at minimum reconsider the Branding to be what it's always been...

As a AAA tech, I would like to comment on your post.

"1/5 (6 days later)------car would not start...tests concluded...battery had severely discharged". No, the correct verbiage is "battery IS severely discharged" I have run thousands of test, I know what the tester says.

Something ran that battery down. Read the back of your invoice. Read the test strip from the test. Severely discharged batteries are NOT covered under the warranty.

"1/7 took car to independent mechanic who charged battery---identified the AAA battery to be not adequate." Huh? Not likely. Do you think that mechanic might have wanted to sell you a battery? It's the classic "you didn't buy it from me, so it's junk" scenario.

So why was the battery discharged in the first place?

I suspect your "independant mechanic" was quickly able to locate and repair the source of the drain.

"Call around to any car battery store---they are warranty batteries that have been severaly discharged" (sic) -- No, NO ONE will replace your battery if it has simply been run down. No one!

No, the warranty follows the purchaser of the battery, not the membership. The problem today is that the computer software in the truck cannot process a non-member transaction, so you may have to raise some *** get what you paid for.
