Verified Reviewer | Sacramento, CaliforniaOur local tow companies do not like AAA
I needed to get a tow for repair of my disabled vehicle. I was quoted 2 hours from a tow business 4 miles away.
After repeated calls to AAA and online tracking, saying they were on their way they had not left yet after 2.5 hours. Tow companies do not like AAA due to their cheap rates they offer tow companies to tow. I pay for a premium membership, it's not so premium.
I now have to seek alternative methods to get to work tomorrow. Waste of my time.

Verified ReviewerCalled for service
I attempted to use my membership for the very first time and have received nothing but excuses for lack of service. I placed my service call at 10:45 am and it is now 2:30pm and AAA still cannot say if or when someone will arrive.
Update: just got a call now and was told they would arrive at about 3:40pm!
This is taking 5 hours to have someone come out and jump start my car?!??
The entire reason I purchased this membership (premium at that!) was because my daughter went to college this year and it's a long dark (at night) highway, 140 miles.
I was concerned about what might happen if she broke down while traveling to or from school.
My wife drives mountainous roads going to her work so I thought it would make sense to get it for her too.
Now I am questioning this entire membership as it seems completely worthless to me if I can't get service. Customer service could not seem to care any less about it. In fact I was hung up on after my first call.
I was on hold waiting for the rep to say when I could expect someone to bother showing up. Second rep was just there for the paycheck.
Third one said someone would be here in less than 45 minutes.
After an hour of waiting for a confirmation call or text I called back and got nowhere.
Fifth call asked for a supervisor and was on hold for nearly 30 minutes only to be given same excuses maybe this or maybe that.
Sixth and seventh calls yielded zero results trying to find a corporate customer service number. The one I found went to NY (I live in Virginia) and the second attempt went to Utah!
As far as I can tell this entire company is just in this for membership money and fails to take care of someone on the very first request for service!

Complete this short 30-second survey about your experiences with AAA and recieve your exclusive reward for participating.
The above message sounds good, but once I paid S/H they said that I was now entered in the drawing!! I took the time to take their survey, I stupidly gave them my money for shipping and handling and was then notified of my entry to the drawing.
I was lied to and will now be dropping my AAA account. There are more honest options out there.
Preferred solution: I would like AAA to put a stop to this practice, unless they fully explain that S/H is in fact the fee to enter the drawing.
User's recommendation: Don't fall for this, they lied.

Verified ReviewerResolved: BREACH OF CONTRACT
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Failing AAA recognizing the Contract, I terminated the Contract, and received a partial refund.
When First Agent was out of office, Second Agent mucked around causing several increases which were not approved by me. Finally, I dealt with Retention Agent who issued a BINDING Contract that I paid in FULL - $3,400. Since then AAA want another $600 and are apparently REPUDIATING the BINDING CONTRACT. I sent EVIDENTIARY documents to the CEO who is indifferent.
I am 80 and a FIRST time Customer, live in Florida, currently dealing with Debbie (no damage or claims; in fact I have never had an Auto or Home Damage Claim. Period.)
Preferred solution: Full refund

Failure to fulfill the contract obligation and contradictory information
I have been an on again off again member "forever." I didn't need them when I got a new car since that come with roadside assistance .
I rejoined in February. My older car needed a battery replacement.
I used this service over the years and have been relatively happy. Last fall I sold my collectors model Benz to a neighbor. I told him to get AAA to replace the battery. They will do it in the driveway.
The next thing I notice is the car being towed. Why? " The AAA guy said it needed to go to a AAA shop to be done." Strange, it has the second AAA battery in it that was replaced on my driveway. My neighbor said they checked the brakes (new) changed the oil and filters and did a lot of stuff that I would only let Mercedes do.
Nothing dawned on me then.
As I said, I rejoined in Feb so I could get my battery swapped out IN THE DRIVEWAY. The first , second, and third agent I spoke with informed me they didn't have the battery on the truck. They would be happy to tow the car to the near by AAA service center. Why not go get the battery?
Can't.
The next day I called the center and was told to come anytime, they could do it right away ... while I waited. The battery was in stock and they were slow.
I said I would think about it. I called them back in a couple days and explained I was an old man, sickly and in a wheelchair.
Why can't thegetv truck pick up the battery? He said that's not done. He offered to send me to a supervisor. She picked up and was upset I was connected to her.
Her uppity attitude was very annoying. She said, hold on. When she came back, she said I needed to go to the service center because AAA DID NOT OFFER BATTERY SERVICE AT MY LOCATION!!. Of course, that was not the story I got back the first three calls.
I said, strangely, it seems AAA is more interested in getting under the hood of my car at a service center do to poor business. Well you do what you want! How about, I go there and buy the battery and take it somewhere else for installing. Oh no ...
You must have us install it ... Warranty etc.
I receive numerous emails and texts for travel service, car repairs, and car insurance. Did AAA get sold?
It seems to have gone from the American Drivers angel on wheels to a marketing company with no interest in doing anything but ringing the cash register.
I called membership services and wanted a refund. Sorry sir, your refund period is over (by what ...
10 min.)
I escalated to complaints. A very nice woman answered and understood my frustration. She said would call a supervisor(!!!).
I was left a message stating ... Nothing could be done except tow me to the AAA service center.
Caviat Emptor.
AAA is no longer the guardian of the roads. Stay away ... There are other auto clubs out there.
I found two that will come here. Unfortunately, I am not a member and will have to pay more.
User's recommendation: Join a more reputable club.
Issure with replacing battery
Dear AAA,
I am writing to make you aware of an experience that I had with your services; last December (2023) my care would not start. I called for assistance and a new battery was installed in my car.
About 6 weeks later my care would not start again. I called again and was told the battery had a bad cell, but that the truck that was dispatched did not have the battery I needed. They jumped my car and sent me to the service center in Beavercreek. They confirmed the bad battery and replaced it again.
After about another 6 weeks my care would not start a third time. The person that came out appeared to be helpful. They did not have the correct battery again and I was told that I would have to pay for service as I had used up my allotted amount of roadside service calls. Since I had to call several times due to a bad battery (or so I was told) I questioned this and they jumped me at no charge.
I was frustrated and had someone look at the battery but they told me to take it back to The AAA service center since the battery had come from them. I managed to get the car up there and they said they did not know why the second battery was no good and replaced it once again. I have worried about the car ever since and took it to a repair shop to see if they could find out why, since my original battery was replaced, I was having so much trouble keeping the battery charges. They verified that the alternator and starter were fine.
It was determined that the battery connection was not as it should have been. They installed spacers to make the connection good. I am not
Page 2
figured this out in the times I was up there to have the battery replaced. I not only had to pay for the original battery that was put in in December but I also had to pay to have the car looked at, and the spacers put in to get it to work properly.
My husband and I got a AAA member ship in 1973 as a wedding gift and have been members ever since and this is the first time AAA has not given good customer service. I feel that AAA owes me, a loyal customer, some satisfaction.
It is time to renew and I am thinking hard about if I should.
Since I am a widow and need protection so that I do not get stranded at the side of the road with no help. I will renew, but I am disappointed that AAA was not smart enough to figure out that the battery cables were not fitting properly.
The dollars I have paid over the years surely would cover adding shims to the battery cable.
I look forward to hearing from someone at AAA corperate.
Thank You for your time

Verified ReviewerNeed to replace the New Milford CT AAA provider
If my car needs help in New Milford, CT---I will not be using my AAA membership to solve the problem because I will not subject myself to that behavior again.
CT AAA needs to be made aware of how badly Candlewood Valley Motors is treating AAA members. I was stuck, waited 2.5 hours for a truck (the AAA location was 3 miles away from where I was), and had the police called by an arrogant, yelling, irate man because he was on a power trip. He had zero reason to call a police officer other than it gave him power over a woman. I was issued a ticket for doing absolutely nothing wrong just because the office was called by this horrible person.
Then I was charged $500 for what should have been a $50 service at best. Others have written of similar experiences - yet AAA does nothing about this.

Verified ReviewerWife stranded for over 5 hours-over 4 dispatchers refused service #5334****
Dear AAA,
On Saturday, June 8 my wife called AAA roadside assistance and put a request for a tow at 11:30 am.
The claim number is 5334****. I cancelled the claim 6 hours later after driving 1.5 hours to get her and retrieved the car another way.
She was left out in 90 plus degree weather.
She was told 4 or more dispatchers refused to tow her 90 miles (we have AAAplus).
One agent told to me refile a new claim.
Another agent told me not to and she would do her best to get help.
She called back to tell me she is still working on it but I never received a return call.
I was told it might not be until Monday for a tow. (Her care would not start and the alarm kept going off when she tried the key.
Another agent told me because I used a swear word she would transfer me to her supervisor. She sent me to a number that said, "That number is not in service." Classy.
I am upset at AAA.
I have been with you folks for decades. Service has always been great.
Signed,
David Michalski

Verified ReviewerTurning long term customer away
To whom it may concern,
I can't believe that after being a loyal AAA customer for over 25 years, I am now forced to switch to another company for home and car insurance because you don't value me enough as a long-term customer to offer me competitive rates so I can stay with you. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want a customer that prepays for their insurance a year ahead and never has any claims.
This really shows that AAA has zero regard for their customers and that the company values profits over its good name. I just wanted you to know that your corporate greed has lost you another customer.

Verified ReviewerTotal lack of customer service
We have heard nothing from AAA or the towing company or Enterprise Car Rental.
I had multiple phone conversations with several different people. I explained in detail that I was 80 years old, on total disability plus that I have PTSD. I made it very clear that we needed a rental car and where we wanted my vehicle towed for repairs. During this time both our phones were running low on charge!
Mine finally went dead. Each time I spoke to a Triple A employee a was emphatic about giving them both phone numbers! I was assured an Enterprise rental vehicle would pick us up and given a confirmation number. It was imperative that we stopped at the Menards store on the 65-mile drive home for items for the electrician that we hired for the following day.
We asked the tow truck driver if we could ride with him and he would just open the door and let us out on the highway as he passed by a Menards on his way to Lebanon with our van. He told us that his insurance would not allow anyone to ride with him. This brought on a severe panic attack requiring medication and then resulted in muscle spasms where as I had to take pain medication. When the tow truck driver River Valley Towing would not help us we then called AAA back.
Triple A emphatically and unequivocally told us, with a confirmation number, that Enterprise would pick us up! My phone went dead. My wife got through to my daughter in Minnesota and she got a Uber person that picked us up in the bank parking lot sometime after 7 pm. Arrangements were made to hire someone from the church in Lebanon that lives in Eldridge, Missouri to pick us up and take us home to Falcon, Missouri.
We finally go home after 10:30 pm after spending $130 out of our pocket plus what my daughter paid the Uber! A couple of weeks ago the same vehicle broke down (intermittent problem) and I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with AAA trying to get a rental car. I could get absolutely nowhere! The worst customer service I have ever encountered!
I finally tried their CHAT lineI was number 26! Waited almost 45 minutes and got down to number 1THEN I GET THE MESSAGE AGENT DISCONNECTED
- Absolutely the worst customer service i have ever encountered
- Did nothing they said they would and left us stranded

Verified Reviewer | Kansas City, MissouriPoor service
I just found that my home does not have insurance. Apparently, the insurance lapsed in November.
I was told there were letters sent. Might be, but I did not see them. So, get this, I was without home insurance since November. Remember, this was in the winter.
Do you think there could be wind and snow damage to this house? Or better yet, someone would have gotten hurt. I was told the agents don't follow up. More later.
My car, a 2007 model did not really need collision insurance.
I called and had collision insurance removed from my policy. This could have been 2 or 3 years ago. You are probably aware that if I rent a car without collision insurance, AAA does not cover that car. Well swell, I did not know that and I was driving those cars uninsured.
What a surprise and the one and only reason I was not covered was because my AAA insurance agent did not tell me.
Today while talking to an AAA agent, I was informed that since there were corn rows on the aerial photo, farming was performed here and AAA could not insure me. Now why do you think I did not let AAA know that I rented some land and farming was being performed. No one asked me. Tell me, if I would have had a claim, do you think AAA would have paid that claim.
Ha!
I have just a bit of common sense advice. I worked in a car dealership and by far, the salesman who was incredible at his job was a guy named Bernie. He did an incredible business always following up, always trying to seal a deal. He took his job seriously.
All I heard today was one excuse after another as to why, first, I was not contacted.
How does this 5 minute conversation sound. "Hi Dave, AAA here, I noticed you let your homeowners lapse, is there a reason we could help you resolve." Dave would reply, " what, how did that happen, of course I want to continue my coverage with AAA." Even if I moved to a new house, I still need insurance. Your agents must know that if they followed up with a phone call, the business is waiting to be had.
What I have written above, in a small way, shows how frustrating this is. All I want is some performance from my agent.
I do not want a person who spews out numbers and then waits for their check at the end of the week.
I am deeply disappointed in AAA. I remember going to a Ford Management meeting. The one single thing I remember from the meeting is this statistic. If your service is bad or offensive, the customer will tell an average of 32 people.
If you have good service, they will tell 5. Something to keep in mind.
User's recommendation: Do not, to reiterate, do not count on these agents to keep your best interest in mind.

Hello, my daughter, who is on my account, broke down last night in Swainsboro. In a bad neighborhood at sround midnight.
She called AAA for a tow and was told that no one there had a contract with AAA. She called a few times and was told to find someone around to do it and send the info to AAA. They were supposed to call her back but nevrr did. She called the same tow truck driver she had sent to you and he finally came at about 8:00.
She asked him had AAA called him snd he said you hadnt. He towed her to Savannah and it cost 500.00. She was told there was a 50-50 chance of her getting reimbursed. This whole situation is nonsense.
Leaving hrr stranded in a bad place, she was terrified.
Why couldnt you get someone out there? I have been a member for many yesrs and I expect this to resolved.
