Verified Reviewer |AAA sells defective batteries to get you in their Auto Repair Shops
AAA is no longer the company your grandmother and grandfather would use.
They lost the bracket to the battery in one car changing the battery. They changed a tire on my car and replaced it with a spare to get me to a repair shop. In the process, their technician bent up one of the bolts in the process. That had to be fixed.
I drove around for 6 months to find a technician to repair the radio. The first thing AAA did was to whine about the length of time it took them to be contacted.
The law states defective products have a 2 year product liability window, in Georgia. TRY ALLSTATE ROAD SERVICE.

Verified Reviewer |AAA Tow request rejected for not using AAA approved garage
Requested service in San Jose, CA - spoke to an agent out of Arizona. My car became undriveable after a tire blew out in a hospital parking garage.
I didn't have a spare, so I contacted AAA to use one of the five-mile tows included in my membership. However, my request was rejected because I wanted the car towed to my home, not a AAA-approved garage. I was questioned about why I wasn't taking it to one of their approved shops and told that my request would not be honored.
I ended up having to borrow a spare tire from someone just to get my car home. This situation was stressful and frustrating, especially when my vehicle clearly couldn't be driven.

Verified ReviewerBeware of this company
This company has a big employee problem, and maybe the company has created the problem themselves. Their customer service representatives are abusive, unprofessional and are full of attitude like as if the customer is the enemy.
This company has an abundance of negative reviews and does not seem to care beyond the issue of getting your money. If one asks for a supervisor call or manager call, no go you will be ignored.
- Bad company
Preferred solution: Apology

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Explained how I was stuck in a ditch for a little over 2 hours
That's when I learned that they had put the wrong phone number in for me, as well as mixed up the street, Clayton Road in St. Louis, Missouri. They thought I was in Clayton, Missouri. He said it showed that they tried calling me and got no response.
So then after learning that the number was wrong, I don't understand why they couldn't go back to the first initial call from me to recheck the number because I did get a text from them after I first called for help. I'm a senior citizen, that was frightening.

Verified Reviewer |Mannerless Driver with a AAA Student Driver car
Last weekend, I was shocked to see a rude driver tarnishing the AAA name. In a crowded mall parking lot in Cerritos, CA., this car driver bullied his way into a parking spot while another car was patiently waiting its turn to park.
Such behavior is not expected from anyone, let alone someone driving a vehicle with the AAA logo (student driver) displayed all over it. What a sad world we live in; this man driving a student driver vehicle must be given a lesson and provided driving instruction himself.

Verified Reviewer |Resolved: No service when needed
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. A refund in the amount equal to what AAA pays one of their suppliers.
Since my membership seesm withless no need for me to renew it,
After a recent doctor's appointment my car would not start, the problem appeared to be a dead/weak battery.
I called AAA for assistance and was told that they were experiencing a heavier number of calls than usual and that they would assign the service ticket when a vendor became available. When asked they were unable to give me an estimate of when that might be. After waiting over an hour I called back again only to be told the same thing. I waited another hour before calling again.
Each time I called I had a very difficult time reaching an actual human vs some AI bot. I figured after 2 hours it was time to go in a different direction. That's when I decided to call a local tow company who was able to reach me within an hour. Total time waiting for AAA three hours.
When I called AAA again to cancel the service request they told me that I was in the queue, however my ticket had not yet been assigned.
I wish I had called the local company to begin with and paid the tow fee out of pocket which amounted to about the same as one year AAA membership.
Lesson learned.
Once my membership expires I will become a former member rather than current one.
Since there doesn't seem to be any direct way of contacting AAA customer service I suspect they really don't care what type of service they are actually providing. Save your money

Verified ReviewerRe: what happened to me on 2/24/25 trying to get help thru AAA
I got stuck in a trench, and no one could get me out. I was in too deeply.
I called AAA, and they immediately texted me a link. The wait was so long. After an hour, I called back twice. The second time, a kind man informed me that my number was incorrect.
After I corrected it, I still had an extra hour wait, a total of two hours. Actually, it was past two hours before help arrived.
Preferred solution: Price reduction

I can’t get anyone to email me back or call me back they pass the buck until someone hangs up, it’s been the worst experience I have gone through with a business all the way around unprofessional and rude at best
Im upset I broke down called AAA was told I could get my baby out of the weather they said they were close to leave my key under mat and never came out, my car was towed by police 8 hours after my call. I had to pay 320 to get my car back and AAA will not respond to my calls or emails. They just hang up or send me to another person that hangs up, when I got my car back it had all my tools stolen windshield broke mirror broke

Verified Reviewer |Horrible service…left us stranded
We had a blow-out on 95 around 4:30 PM. It took two calls and three hours for the AAA service to arrive.
He mounted our spare and didn't even have an air pump to inflate it. He decided to tow us on a trailer, pulling up in front of us, and then just took off. We never saw him again! By then, it was pitch dark.
My husband is in his 90s and I am in my mid 80s. Thank God for our state trooper who called in friends!
- Abandoned us
Preferred solution: $ it cost to stay overnight rather than stay with our friends in NC, $ to cover what we had to pay the guys that the state trooper got for us, money for the service call the next day to have a new tire remounted.

Verified Reviewer |Our local tow companies do not like AAA
I needed to get a tow for repair of my disabled vehicle. I was quoted 2 hours from a tow business 4 miles away.
After repeated calls to AAA and online tracking, saying they were on their way they had not left yet after 2.5 hours. Tow companies do not like AAA due to their cheap rates they offer tow companies to tow. I pay for a premium membership, it's not so premium.
I now have to seek alternative methods to get to work tomorrow. Waste of my time.
User's recommendation: Stay away from AAA, pay cash they do not deliver great service any longer.

Verified Reviewer |Lost Payment From April Til Now November 22nd!
After being wrongfully charged - and then paying! I have been denied membership; for I'm told the payment is not shown.
During membership lapse I had a flat tire service was called - told I would have to pay $100.00 I agreed to the charge..To only get partial down the street to read on the dashboard flat-tire - service was sent back out - the prior driver had put the spare on the wrong tire!
I then recieve the bill -which I disputed over and over again.
Until a collection agency representing AAA phone and offered a settle paymeny of $140.00 which I paid was given authorization # for the payment of 70.00 each
Called to renew membership in the summer several times I were told payment can't be located.
Most recently lost my AAA auto insurance because of the poor management. I include here the proof of payment.
I am also requesting compensation for the position AAA of CA have put me in driving without towing service, affecting my credit score as well as causing me to change auto insurance coverage.
Paid Southwest Credit System (1800 63*-***9) 2 payments of $70.00 Authorization Codes #024184----- #001115 paid 4/24/2024 As of today I phoned them and was told we now see your payment. NOT ACCEPTABLE
PLEASE MAKE IT RIGHT for I have been a loyal customer before the hardhip and stress of this matter

Verified Reviewer |Lied to about contacting a tow service
Car broke down and called AAA. Eventually talked to a lady that said a tow service has been contacted but couldn't give me an ETA.
Didn't think much of it until after a 2 hr wait I called back and was put on hold for 10 min, then came back and told me the name of tow service and was coming.I called service aftrr another 30 minutes and they said they just received request minutes ago.
AAA had called service only minutes before I did. I am VERY upset and will make some calls Monday morning

Verified ReviewerCalled for service
I attempted to use my membership for the very first time and have received nothing but excuses for lack of service. I placed my service call at 10:45 am and it is now 2:30pm and AAA still cannot say if or when someone will arrive.
Update: just got a call now and was told they would arrive at about 3:40pm!
This is taking 5 hours to have someone come out and jump start my car?!??
The entire reason I purchased this membership (premium at that!) was because my daughter went to college this year and it's a long dark (at night) highway, 140 miles.
I was concerned about what might happen if she broke down while traveling to or from school.
My wife drives mountainous roads going to her work so I thought it would make sense to get it for her too.
Now I am questioning this entire membership as it seems completely worthless to me if I can't get service. Customer service could not seem to care any less about it. In fact I was hung up on after my first call.
I was on hold waiting for the rep to say when I could expect someone to bother showing up. Second rep was just there for the paycheck.
Third one said someone would be here in less than 45 minutes.
After an hour of waiting for a confirmation call or text I called back and got nowhere.
Fifth call asked for a supervisor and was on hold for nearly 30 minutes only to be given same excuses maybe this or maybe that.
Sixth and seventh calls yielded zero results trying to find a corporate customer service number. The one I found went to NY (I live in Virginia) and the second attempt went to Utah!
As far as I can tell this entire company is just in this for membership money and fails to take care of someone on the very first request for service!
- Good selection of products
- Terrible accountability
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Avoid!
5 calls over a year and a half they answered only 1the same day and 3 never answered

i called from a busy airport and waited over 6 hours and multiple calls later before making my own way and getting service
another time a blowout the guy was there in about 45 minutes great
the next time family member called electric car issues no service response

They won’t tow the car to your home because the garage is going to get your business since it is not driveable. For that, they give AAA a good discount on the tow.
